306090 is an annual publication that explores a wide variety of contemporary issues in architecture. Volume 13, Sustain and Develop, is a double issue that looks at sustainability and development as a set of activities and conditions that are not mutually exclusive but rather constantly overlapping and mingling (and not only in the base, hybrid state of sustainable development). The content, which includes projects, essays, and speculations, is punctuated by sections of "diversions," dispersed through the book, that take a sideways glance at the issue's theme and broaden the understanding of the two terms.
The cover uses a gloss UV coating and fluorescent red and light grey ink to develop a surface based on a combination of various urban forms. Also, portions of Dimension, 306090-13, are set in OCR Sine, a typeface designed specifically for this volume. It uses a common proportional structure defined by a series of modules, in this case squares. By increasing and decreasing the size of the squares in a sequential fashion along the vertical axis a variety of fonts may be produced.
