This ongoing series of conferences at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation gathers professionals from architecture, engineering, and material sciences to discuss advanced uses of particular materials. 2011's conference was dedicated to plastics and polymers, focusing more on the performance potentials of the material than on its pop cultural associations. The hope is that through looking at what plastics do it might be possible to reshape their cultural associations... creating a new ideas of plastic's significance in the future.
