IDEA magazine issue #332, How Does Graphic Design Change?
The Cargo Chain, a pamphlet that Thumb produced for the Center for Urban Pedagogy, was featured in issue 338 of IDEA magazine. The pamphlet, which illustrates the complexities related to the global shipping industry, is being distributed to dockworkers, longshoremen, and others involved in the international and national exchange of goods in order to help describe each faction's place in the larger "cargo chain" that brings various manufactured products to customers worldwide.

Perspective Magazine
Hong Kong architecture and design magazine Perspective's April 2009 issue features Thumb in an illustrated interview. "I am continually surprised by how much we can get away with." Special thanks to Fergus Kwong for the photo session.

The Generational: Younger Than Jesus at the New Museum
Thumb occasional papers number one and five will be included in the New Museum's first edition of its triennial event The Generational. Specifically, Thumb participated in the "Live Archive" portion of the triennial. From the New Museum's website: "Organized by freelance critic Brian Sholis, the space will serve as a research platform, discussion venue, and repository of international periodicals, films, and music created by or documenting this generation. Materials will be gathered from diverse sources: Sholis’s conversations and interviews with the exhibition’s artists; contemporary publications and zines selected by international correspondents; and texts by philosophers, sociologists, journalists, marketing, and technology experts about this generation." Younger Than Jesus is open through July 5, 2009.
