An obscure portion of the communication protocol DNS was found to have a weakness which could be exploited to cause the collapse of the Internet. So, collapse became a key concept for this illustration commissioned by Wired to describe the vulnerability in graphic terms. Unable to resist the colloquial description of the Internet as a "series of tubes," we set out to describe this collapse using the tube as a particle within a collapsing matrix.
